Description

About

Large Pear-shaped vase with a long neck bulbous at the top glazed with 2 dragons on each vase. The mark is on the mouth of the vase. The shape of the vessel is regular in the Ming Dynasty, the workmanship is exquisite, 2 painted dragons dancing on top of the tangled lotus scrolls and lotus flowers. The lotus lappets are decorated at the foot. The whole picture is enthusiastic but not impetuous, which typically shows the colorful features of the Jiajing period. The glaze color of the dragons is as moist and soft as topaz, the green base color is rich and brilliant.  It is a very rare yellow-green color essence. The whole piece pervades antique fragrance.

By the rule of law under the Empire, only the Emperor himself could use yellow, the utmost noble color, as any base color for porcelain, costume, or decorations.  The same rule is as the dragons with five claws. So the very original piece of this color vase should be made for the mother of the emperor.
