Artist: Han Xiaodong 韩晓东
Han Xiaodong is one of the Chinese Contemporary Jun Kiln Masters who is from the homeland of Junware, Yuzhou Henan province.
The phoenix bath glaze artwork created by Han Xiaodong is beautiful, simple, and agile, and has a distinct sense of the times. It has been praised and affirmed by the industry and has an extremely high collection and appreciation value.
Han Xiaodong also created a pearl glaze that was fired at a high temperature of 1300 degrees Celsius by using the different shrinkage ratios of the carcass and the glaze.
All Han Xiaodong’s work has a steady color, brilliant but not vulgar, a strong three-dimensional effect, and a shiny glaze.
Jun ware began in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Song Dynasty. It has gone through the Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties until today. In this thousand and seven hundred years of history, Jun ware has always been shining with brilliant brilliance and is favored by the world. Especially during the Song Dynasty, Jun porcelain had been designated by the royal family as imperial treasures. It could only be used by the royal family. It was not allowed to be collected by the private sector. It enjoys the reputation of “gold has a price but Jun is priceless”. Jun porcelain has high ornamental value and great artistic charm, which has conquered generations of Chinese descendants.
The preciousness of Jun porcelain lies in its unique kiln glaze color. Its glaze color is formed naturally and is not artificially depicted. The glaze color of each Jun porcelain is unique, that is, “None of Jun porcelain is in pair, the kiln change is unparalleled”
Quote from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jun_ware
“Although in the Song and Yuan dynasties the wares do not seem to have had a very high status, from the Ming onwards they acquired a very high reputation among collectors.[56] A set of panels in the Walters Art Museum, Baltimore shows the prestige of Jun ware among Chinese collectors under the Qing. Sherds of purple-splashed Jun ware were framed and mounted in a set of four custom-made wooden panels of the 18th or 19th century, seen through individually shaped windows.
Genuine Jun ware continues to be highly collectible and expensive. At an auction at Christie’s New York in 2016,[58] prices realized included US$52,500 for a small blue bowl,[59] USD 112,500 for a blue plate splashed with purple, and US$389,000 for a round official Jun “Number 3″ jardinière.”
