About
An exceptional beautifully handcrafted fine art reproduction of a vase from the Ming Hongwu Dynasty (1368~1398) by Jingdezhen kiln.
The name of the vase comes from the paintings on the abdomen of the vase. It is painted with three friends of winter: pine, bamboo, and plum. It also adds a banana tree to create a beautiful and symmetrical visual effect. The plum bottle is white glazed, the white is slightly green, and the enamel is fine and moist. The bottle mouth is narrow, the neck is short and shoulder wide, the bottle body is gradually collected, and the shape is beautiful and well-proportioned.
The original piece was identified in 1933 as a national treasure by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage. It is one of 18 pieces of the national treasures of the town in Nanjing Museum, China. The Nanjing Museum has more than 430,000 pieces in its collection. This plum bottle was on public display for a year from October 2018 to October 2019.
The glazed red porcelain was royal imperial porcelain during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty 明朝洪武. These porcelains are very complicated to create. The white porcelain is painted with copper-containing pigments, then coated with a layer of transparent glaze, and finally fired in a kiln at around 1300 degrees Celsius. Because the colour is dignified, pure, and vivid, the requirements of the glaze formula and process conditions are very demanding. The allowable error on temperature cannot exceed 10 degrees. Any piece which fired imperfectly must be smashed and buried, so there are few intact parts left. Due to the huge cost involved the glazed red porcelain could only be made for the empire palace, the folk was forbidden to make them at the time.
