Bathed in a serene turquoise glow, the Baoshi Chinese Chest tells a story of tradition and artistry. Each chest is lovingly handcrafted from solid pine and finished with a distressed, high-lacquer sheen that captures both light and history. No two pieces are ever quite the same — each brushstroke and hue a whisper of the artisan’s touch.
This remarkable creation comes from the hands of our dear friend, Mr Li, a master carpenter whose family-run workshop is located on the tranquil outskirts of Beijing. Guided by generations of knowledge, he builds each piece using the ancient Chinese art of mortise and tenon joinery — a method that relies not on nails or screws, but on perfect harmony between wood and craft.
Every chest bears its own delicate variations in colour and pattern, ensuring that each one is as individual as the home it graces. Unique. Timeless. Beautiful.
