About
Orchids in Chinese culture symbolize scholarly pursuit and represent nobility, integrity and friendship. The meaning of Orchids is associated with the ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius who likened the orchid to an honorable man. The sideboard was originally used as a rice storage trunk by a big family in the West of China. After restoration it was converted as a 2 door Cabinet but still retains an original feature that allows you to open the 2 lids from the top of the trunk. There is an aging crack on the right front door which doesn’t weaken its beauty but has added a sense of aesthetic touch to the piece. The furniture has been re-lacquered to its old days’ glory.ance.
